In October, a major workshop entitled “Traditional Raised and Burnished Gesso Gilding” was presented by noted calligrapher and artist, Ken Harris. Ken demonstrated the mixing and application of white lead gesso using recipes and techniques that date back to the middle ages. Under Ken’s guidance, students then produced amazing projects of their own design applying gesso and 24k gold leaf.

All That Glitters… might be gold, might not be...
In this Early Bird and Program we will explore some nontraditional ways to apply gold to our work.
We will use both real and imitation gold, in a variety of forms. This will be a hands on opportunity to try different types of gold media, including several gold paints, gold foils, and real gold. Along with the different golds, we will try some different bases for gold leaf. So join us for a glittering evening of fun with a material that has intrigued people for centuries.

No supplies required. You bring your enthusiasm. I will bring everything else.

SACG will be collecting donations for the local Battered Women’s Shelter at the December General Meeting/Potluck Dinner. Here are a few items that you may consider brininging:
- $10 Target, Wal-Mart, or other retailer gift cards for their gift exchange.
- Non-perishable holiday food items to provide holiday food baskets for transitioning families.
- Diapers, new underwear, socks of various sizes for adult women, boys, and girls to help meet the need that always seems to increase around the holidays.

There is a basic list of supplies for most SACG workshops. Check the Calendar for additional supplies required for specific workshops. If you need help understanding something on the list, ask an established member. They'll be happy to help!
