Happy New Year! We start 2019 on a very positive note- we have a strong and growing membership, we are in a very sound financial position and we have excellent participation in our workshops, mini workshops and general meetings. More people are bringing their artwork to share and I strongly encourage you to continue to do so. Everyone enjoys seeing what other calligraphers are doing!
Next month, we have two events in the community – our exhibit at the Parmen Library, which begins on the 3rdof February and the Pony Express Valentine project at the Brisco Museum, which runs from February 1-12. The Exhibit Opening Reception is on Saturday the 9thof February- please come and support our exhibitors. And if you come bearing cookies- even better! We have supported the Brisco Museum’s Valentine project for several years. Members who have addressed the envelopes have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Sign up sheets will be available at the mini workshop on Thursday the 17th of Jan. You can sign up for as many or as few hours as you like. Let’s continue to support one of San Antonio’s truly unique museums.

Follow a few simple instructions and you can create a beautiful book with an elegant hand-made envelope. The best part is this can be the starting point for you to use your creativity to make more intricate books of any shape or size using these same steps.
You will receive materials for a book cover, endpapers, Arches test wove for content, and a custom envelope along with bookbinding thread.
Bring a pencil, scissors, and a 12-inch ruler. If you have an awl and a bone folder, bring those too. We will have some to share.

SAVE THE DATE!
SACG Major Workshop: "Life Lines" by Pamela Paulsrud
What Time: 9 AM - 5 PM each day
We are very excited to host Pamela Paulsrud for this major workshop. Pam is a well accomplished and prolific calligraphic artist whose experience is far too extensive to be listed here. She is also a warm, thoughtful, insightful instructor who gets the best out of every student. Following is her description of her Life Lines workshop.
Sign-up begins at the February General Meeting, February 7, 2019.
Cost: $135. Your check holds your space. We will not cash your check until after the class takes place. We understand that “life happens.” If you need to cancel, your check will be returned up to 2 weeks before class time. After that time, we will be unable to refund your payment unless someone else replaces you in the class.
The supply list will be distributed to the class after sign-up is complete.
Pam will also present the program on Thursday, May 2, and her lecture will be wonderful. So even if you are unable to take part in the workshop, be sure to mark the meeting date as special and not to be missed!

There is a basic list of supplies for most SACG workshops. Check the Calendar for additional supplies required for specific workshops. If you need help understanding something on the list, ask an established member. They'll be happy to help!
