Thoughts From the President

Welcome back to the new year of the San Antonio Calligraphers’ Guild. We have a great lineup of programs and activities planned for you beginning with the Secret Pal Reveal. BJ Grant, the Secret Pal Chair has a spectacular program planned for the September meeting, so be sure to be there.
Many thanks to our Board for their time and effort expended to make last year so successful. We have three new Board members- Beth McMahon, Secretary, Kathy Sipe, Treasurer and Lauren Deal, who has volunteered to be our new Hospitality Chairperson.
We would like to get our Membership Roster printed and distributed to you by October. If you have not yet renewed your membership for the coming year, please see Fernando Casillas, Membership Chair, and renew. I will also be bringing an information sheet plus invitations to the Exhibit we have scheduled for mid-October. I will also have printed Calendar-at-a Glance available for you. We will not be having a share table at the September meeting, since we will be enjoying the Secret Pal reveal.
We are very fortunate to have such a vibrant guild with very talented artists who willingly share their time and creative expertise with all of us. So get your creative juices flowing, come to the programs, workshops and minis and have fun! I look forward to seeing you all at the September meeting.

2019 Calligraphy Exchange

Our Annual Calligraphy Exchange took place on August 8 and was very well attended. We had plenty of time to visit and catch up toward the end of this long, hot summer. There was lots of eye candy, including some felted art by Brian Zampier and some hand made books by Deborah Hartigan, some lovely papers made by Bonnie Davis, and, of course, the great selection of supplies and papers brought by Herweck’s, thanks to Dina and An. Several Secret Pal gifts were delivered. Laura Herold brought her button maker and everyone who wanted to had an opportunity to make a button of their own - great hands on fun! Memberships were renewed (that’s a hint to anyone who has not yet done so). The Amity Parks workshop filled up (but there is a waiting list if you are still interested). And a wonderful time was had by all!
